Rodent Treatments to Try at Home

Rodents are sneaky pests that will hide throughout your home and steal your food without you even realizing it until you have a major issue and begin to take notice. Rodents leave behind traces that you may not pay enough attention to. If you have found signs of rodents in your home, you need to do something to get rid of them. Read on for rodent treatment options you can try at home.

1. Set Mouse Traps

Set mouse traps around your house in the areas where you have seen signs of mice. Don't place them on counters or in food-prep areas, but you can place them along baseboards in your kitchen or other areas of your home. Mice usually stick to the edges of a room to remain hidden, so set them in those areas. There are different types of traps that can be used, including snap traps, enclosed traps, or even sticky traps. Follow the manufacturer's instructions on these traps, check them often, and remove any deceased mice you find. Reset the traps in the same areas, or move them around to wherever you see any new signs of mice.

2. Clean Up Feces

You're going to want to clean up the feces of mice that you spot around your home, not only to keep your home sanitary but to prevent other pests from wanting to come inside as well. Mice droppings can attract roaches and ants to your home, and you already have one problem to deal with, you don't need another one too. Wipe up any signs of mice with a bleach/water mixture on your counters and other hard surface areas. If you have mouse droppings on your floors, vacuum them up, and wipe these areas down with a cleaning agent.

3. Repair Entrances

Mice are getting into your home through some sort of opening around your home. It could be a very narrow opening or a hole of some sort. You need to inspect your house to find these openings or entryways and seal them to prevent more mice from coming inside. When you seal these entrances, be sure to use steel wool in the holes or openings to prevent the mice from being able to get back in.

Treat your rodent problem using the tips above, but if you continue to have a problem, you should hire a pest control company to help you. Contact local rodent treatment services for more insight.
